Meta Data (extra information for search engines)

From a link on your SitesToGo admin page you can insert and keep your the html Page Title and Meta Data up-to-date on all the pages of your site.

First though you need to identify the key search terms that are important for each page. Choose terms that you know will earn revenue!

When optimising your website, do a little research to see what phrases or words people are using on search engines for your type of product or service Use the links on our Web marketing tools page to see what words or phrases are used, this will give you an idea of what words or phrases you need to use to help you get found.

Include your target words or phrases in your page copy, as often as possible but no more than 5 times in total on the page (this includes the headings on the page and the name, address field at the bottom).

Why Meta Data matters

Inserting Meta Data is not a guarantee that you will be ranked highly with search engines, but some search engines use this hidden information to help categorise the content of your site. If you combine this data with managing your site content to optimise it for search engines, then you will increase your chances. (See also SitesToGo links page and useful tips section, accessible from the admin page)

Page title:

The Page or html title is one of the most important parts of the site - it's the title of the page. When you open websites you will see the html page title, this appears at the very top of the page (in blue bar at top). It is important to have a meaningful html title that is unique for each page.

Meta keywords:

Then take all the target words and phrases that appear on the page and input then into your Meta Keywords area. (Only use words that appear in the page text)

Meta Description:

This is basically a "true" description of the content of that page. This will need to be backed up by the keywords and text that you have already used on the home page.

You can change update your Meta data through your admin page of your website (this is the first page after entering in your log in details). The link is under the heading search engine stuff. You can add and amend the Meta data on all pages of your website. Simply choose the page from the list given.
